Austin Odia community is vibrant community of over 50 Odia families from all across Odisha. We celebrate many events throughout the year. Listed below are some of our activities.
Religious
Monthly Puja
On the first Sunday of each month, we come together to participate in a Puja for Lord Jagannath. The Puja is held at the Austin Hindu Temple (AHT). Typically there a few families that sponsor the Puja and attended by the community.
Rathayatra
In addition to the monthly Puja, the community celebrates Rathayatra, Bahuda Yatra and Devesnana Poornima.

Saraswati Puja
Celebrated every spring, children of the community get an opportunity to know about the Goddess of knowledge. Children participate in activities such as drawing etc.

Cultural
The community gets involved in many cultural activities and functions.
Drama
Once every year one of the cities in Texas/Arkansas region holds a Regional Drama Festival (RDF). Austin Odia community is one of the more active communities at the RDF. People get an opportunity to show case their acting/writing talents.
Annual Diwali Function
This is yet another much awaited annual function. Once again the families and kids get a chance to perform in front of an audience through this well organized event.
Sports
Soccer
Every Saturday morning the Blue and Saffron teams of Austin Odia meet for their weekly battle. It is a rivalry that rivals that of Barca-Real. Passions do run high though softened sometimes by a generous supply of Bara-Ghuguni. The refereeing is of high quality and keeps things in check. The post match analysis and discussions go well into Saturday afternoon. If you are not part of it yet, it is time to buy a pair of soccer cleats!
